About the reflector
Originally XRF038 became active in 2013 with the NODIG organization, namely Jeff-KG8IU, leading the effort. It was co-located in an Ohio data center with REF038. For several years both XRF038 and REF038 were the “go to” reflectors for D-STAR users going to the Dayton Hamvention. In 2019, the Ohio data center was no longer able to support the operation of REF/XRF038.
Terry-KA8SCP worked with available NODIG hams to build a new version of both REF038 and XRF038 in a new datacenter. A new dedicated server was purchased and installed and the new reflectors were “spun up”.
XRF038 has been home to the Sunday Night Ohio Wide D-STAR Net (OWDN) since 2012 and remains a well attended net by hams from Ohio as well as from around the world.
In December of 2020, XRF reflector software was migrated to the XLX platform where it supports the original XRF connections as well as DCS and XLX protocols. It also allows for XRF038 Module A to be connected to a wide area North America connection which supports DMR and Fusion radio connections.
